Cultivating the tradition of apothecaries
Pelion was established with the support of pharmacists, who - for generations - have been the first source of information about medicinal products. The company aims to blend tradition with modernity, combining the best things from the past with a forward-looking vision. Because Pelion never forgets those common roots:
- it sponsors Poland's oldest pharmacy - The Vice-Chancellor’s Pharmacy (Apteka Rektorska) of Zamość, which celebrated its 400th anniversary in 2009,
- it publishes "The Most Famous Polish Pharmacies" monograph series,
- it supports the development of Pharmacy Museums.

Each volume of monograph is a vast source of information on the history of the pharmacy it describes, the fortunes of its owners and the tradition of the trade in the region. The appeal of the monographs is enhanced by the use of archival illustrations and photographs. Fourteen volumes have already been published in the "The Most Famous Polish Pharmacies" series.
The Jan Muszyński Pharmacy Museum in Łódź is the youngest of the city's museums. The Museum, which was formally opened on March 10th 2008, is located in a historic building, which also houses the oldest pharmacy in Łódź - an establishment founded in 1840 by one Karol Ketschman. Its collection includes period furniture, utensils, books, old prescriptions, as well as a host of other objects illustrating the traditions of the trade. Its role is also to educate its audiences and be a centre of academic activity. It organises exhibitions connected with pharmacy and with history in general. Serving as a venue of academic sessions and museum classes for children and teenagers, the Museum cooperates with a number of institutions and organisations, including institutions active in the sphere of culture and education, from different parts of Poland. Since 2008, the Museum has participated in the International Museum Night - the Europe-wide festival of art and history lovers.
