Twelve young musicians led by Janusz Kwiatosiński proved that guitar is a unique instrument suitable both for popular contemporary hits and the greatest pieces of classical music. The Orchestra performed music by Piotr Czajkowski and Jan Sebastian Bach, but also such hits as La Bamba and theme songs to the films Desperado or Pirates of the Caribbean. The latter was particularly loved by the audience, who demanded an encore.

All the audience and the musicians were in great mood, and with such a rich programme, every music lover could find something to suit their taste. The event gathered guitar fans of all ages, as some grandparents also brought their grandchildren with them.

Admission to the event was free.

This year, the First Guitar Orchestra of Łódź celebrates its 15th anniversary. Its repertoire includes classical music, film themes and folk songs. The Orchestra performs sophisticated guitar concerts, e.g. with Chopin’s works, but also Oldfield’s electronic music hits.

The DOZ Dbam o Zdrowie Foundation’s next musical meeting for seniors will take place on June 27th 2018, at 5pm, at the Sukcesja Shopping Centre (level -1) at Al. Politechniki 1 in Łódź. The event will feature accordion player Krzysztof Raczyński.

Musical events and health conferences are part of the DOZ Dbam o Zdrowie Foundation’s mission of helping older people. The first concert, held in February 2018, was entitled ‘Piosenka niejedno ma imię’ (A Song Goes by Many Names). It was performed by senior female students of the Academy of Music in Łódź. The second one, in April 2018, featured Monika Kamieńska from the Łódź Song Theatre, who took the audience on a ‘Retro Journey’.

The DOZ Dbam o Zdrowie Foundation was established in 2007 on the initiative of its founder, Pelion S.A. A year later, it was included in the list of public benefit organisations. The purpose of the Foundation is to help those in need, in particular by mitigating inequalities in access to healthcare and medication. The Foundation also engages in health, educational and charity activities. To date, its support has been received by the elderly, single mothers, families with many children, and persons suffering from chronic diseases. Since 2013, the DOZ Dbam o Zdrowie Foundation has been a member of the Polish Donors’ Forum association.
