Results of PGF Group after the third quarter 2009

Polska Grupa Farmaceutyczna ended the third quarter of 2009 with consolidated net profit of PLN 16.5m and sales revenue in excess of PLN 1.3bn. The Groups also commenced the implementation of new, innovative ventures.

In Q3 2009, Polska Grupa Farmaceutyczna’s revenue totalled PLN 1,327.9m. The aggregate revenue for the first three quarters of 2009 amounted to PLN 4,014.3m. With a 54% share, wholesale trade accounted for the largest portion of revenue.

-Our sales are growing fast at the moment (a 9.4% y-o-y growth in Q3 2009) and our financial performance is improving visibly. We have also managed to reduce the PGF Group’s debt”-says Jacek Szwajcowski, President of PGF S.A.

Q3 saw the execution of new projects, of which particularly noteworthy are the image campaign run by the I Care for My Health Pharmacies , the Business Support Solutions project, and the launch of the direct distribution model.

The new campaign run by the I Care for My Health Pharmacies is designed to enhance the image of our outlets among customers as the most professionally-run chain of pharmacies in Poland.

-We want the "I Care for My Health" brand to promote a philosophy in which a pharmacist, a patient and a doctor are equally important in the health care system-says Jacek Szwajcowski.

-The chain of the "I Care for My Health Pharmacies", comprising nearly 2,000 outlets, should not only lead the market, but should also be seen by our patients as a competent adviser on disease prevention and health protection.Another project worth mentioning is the establishment of Business Support Solutions, a company which will provide finance and accounting, HR and payroll, as well as legal services to Polish and foreign entities of the PGF Group as well as to external companies-says Jacek Szwajcowski.-The company was registered in February 2009 and will commence operations at the beginning of 2010- adds Szwajcowski.

The past quarter was also a test period for the direct distribution model launched in May this year.

-We will continue working with Astra-Zeneca in the area of supplying pharmaceuticals to all types of pharmacies and hospitals as the logistics operator and administrator of this project. We are able to efficiently support sales in this system, by using, among other things, the already implemented concept of operating through consignment warehouses. This enables us to support our own sales parallel to the sales of manufacturers who choose the direct distribution model- says Jacek Szwajcowski, President of PGF S.A.

Polska Grupa Farmaceutyczna is prepared to operate in the event of intensified flue infections spreading in Poland. A dedicated contingency team has been set up in the company, whose role is to plan and provide the necessary services to patients, pharmacies and hospitals.

-We are watching the market and our stock levels on an ongoing basis- assures Jacek Szwajcowski.
