The eighth Charity Evening brought together numerous Foundation supporters. Invaluable help in the form of charitable donations was offered by the event participants representing the business community, pharmaceutical industry, medicine, science and culture. The participants also took part in a charity auction featuring almost one hundred items, including paintings by Iwan Kulik, Elżbieta Bocianowska, Marian Bocianowski, Bartosz Sucharski, as well as photographs by Tomasz Grzywaczewski, Adam Wajrak, Piotr Pustelnik, and Jacek Kusiński. The guests could also bid on various sports memorabilia, such as a ball autographed by Jan Tomaszewski, a T-shirt autographed by Małgorzata Niemczyk, member of the 2003 European volleyball champions team, photos of Polish volleyball players with their autographs, and a 2012 London Olympic Games rucksack donated by Karolina Nadolska, an accomplished Polish athlete. There were also books, records with autographs, and the original edition of the Solidarność weekly dating back to 1981 (issues 1– 37).

Thanks to the generosity of the invited guests, an impressive sum of over PLN 50,000 was raised. The event was hosted by a journalist and TV presenter Maciej Dowbor.

The Charity Evening was also attended by representatives of the Seniors Board, established by the Foundation this year. Drawing on their knowledge and experience, the Foundation can even better cater to the needs and expectations of older people.

This year’s Charitable Evening was a continuation of the efforts started by the Foundation a year before. All funds raised on December 4th 2018 will be used to promote social inclusion of older people as well as to build and furnish a workout zone in the Centre for Healthy and Active Seniors at ul. Szpitalna 6 in Łódź, in line with the motto: an active Senior is a healthy Senior.

In 2017, the DOZ Foundation launched its first initiative to help older people. Throughout 2018, the Foundation made efforts to demonstrate that, contrary to popular belief, the autumn of life does not have to be sad and gloomy. During health conferences organised by the Foundation, invited experts and specialists – including physicians, dieticians, psychologists, counsellors, and physiotherapists – offered useful advice and practical tips for good health and wellbeing, whereas the monthly musical events were a source of joy and positive emotions for Seniors.

We are glad that our efforts have been well received. The fact that the events organised by the DOZ Foundation attract so much interest among older people demonstrates we have chosen the right path. We intend to follow this path, guided by our mission of helping those in need. We want seniors to enjoy life and stay healthy as long as possible,’ said Elżbieta Łacina, Member of the Management Board of the DOZ Dbam o Zdrowie Foundation.

As a thank-you for coming to the Charitable Evening, each guest received a CD with music by all instrumentalists and vocalists who performed for Seniors in 2018. The CD also features works by artists who have not yet performed for Seniors but wanted to be part of this extraordinary project.

The DOZ Dbam o Zdrowie Foundation was established in 2007 on the initiative of Pelion, its founder. A year later, the Foundation was included in the list of public benefit organisations. The Foundation’s mission is to help people in need, particularly by reducing inequalities in access to medical treatment and pharmacotherapy. The Foundation is also engaged in health-related initiatives, education and charity, focusing on the elderly. Since 2013, the Foundation has been a member of the Polish Donors Forum.
